PC Adam Dawson of the Road Policing Team said: “Fortunately no one was seriously injured in the collision today and I would like to thank the community for their patience as the road closures caused disruption for many hours.

“On behalf of the police and all of the other emergency services we would also like to commend those residents and local businesses, including William Pye Ltd and Jewson’s, who enabled the scene to be secured and made safe promptly.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact us with any information they may have that could help us to establish exactly what happened and to help us with our enquiries.”

The HGV also collided with some unoccupied business premises resulting in road closures through until 5pm this evening. Fylde council’s building inspector and highways department ensured the building was safe and vehicles were recovered before the area could be re-opened.

Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting the log number 0522 of November 1.
