Plea over hoax calls
Firefighters have warned on the dangers of hoax calls after crew from Blackpool Fire Station were sent on a wasted trip into the town centre.
One pump went on Sunday to a shop on Bank Hey Street but the call made from telephone kiosks near the RNLI station on the Promenade was found to be a hoax.
John Riley, crew manager of White Watch at the Forest Gate station, said: “The call was made by an adult male and was clearly a hoax.
“It’s very frustrating – and dangerous, if the pump is needed elsewhere when out on such a call.”
