Platform for homes plans

AMBITIOUS plans to regenerate a derelict station platform have been unveiled.

This is the first glimpse of the scheme which could see the “eyesore” opposite St Annes railway station transformed by seven homes, including a replica of a traditional station master’s house.

The man behind the plans is Peter Whitehead, of the Lytham-based Windmill Group, who believes the development could revitalise the derelict area.

He said: “It’s been derelict for far too long and if there’s not some focus on the site it will be derelict for another decade.

“The scheme also provides housing there is a great need for in the borough.”

The proposal has been sent to Fylde Council’s planners, but an application is still to be formally lodged.

As part of the development Mr Whitehead hopes to build five three-bedroom affordable homes, which could be accessed via Glen Eldon Road and Durham Avenue and would run along the railway line behind the Sainsbury’s supermarket.
