Plans to change children's home in Blackpool back into private house
“The proposal is for the reversion to the property’s original use
Proposals have been lodged with planners at Blackpool to change the use of a children’s residential care home back into a private house.
A planning application is seeking permission for use of premises at 32 King George Avenue, known as Dahl House, as single dwelling.
It is a three-storey detached property, at the junction of King George Avenue and Warbreck Drive, which was formerly a family home.

Planning documents do no state how many bedrooms the property currently has. It is understood that the property is no longer being used as a children’s home.
Agents acting on behalf of applicants Aspris Children’s Services said the house would effectively be returning to it original use, before permission was granted to allow it to be used as a residential care home almost 20 years ago.
A Planning Statement by Alder King Planning Consultants, said: “No external works to the building or curtilage are proposed.
“The application site was formerly a single dwelling but was brought into use as a residential care home following the grant of planning permission for a change of use in March 2007.
“The proposal is for the reversion to the property’s original use and will assist the Council in meeting the objectives of Policy CS2 to deliver 4,200 homes between 2012 and 2027.
“Furthermore, the National Planning Police Framework requires planning decisions to both give substantial weight to the value of using suitable brownfield land within settlements for homes, and to supporting the development of underutilised buildings to meet identified housing needs.
“The proposal will not affect existing access or parking arrangements, which will be retained. The proposed change of use is likely to result in fewer vehicle trips to and from the site, and the parking spaces retained are sufficient for the proposed use.”
The statement adds: “The proposed use will not give rise to any adverse impacts on the amenities of site neighbours, and will provide an appropriate level of amenity for future occupiers
“There are no adverse transport and movement considerations arising The character and appearance of the adjacent conservation area will be preserved In light of the above, we trust that planning permission will be granted for this policy compliant proposal. “
