Motor fans from across the Fylde coast gathered in Fleetwood to behold a vintage transport exhibition.

Tram Sunday, which kicked off with a traditional parade along Lord Street, Fleetwood, gave visitors the chance to take in impressive transport exhibits, as well as indulging their thirst for culture in five unique ‘zones’.

Masters of poetry took to the Junk Yard Zone at the Memorial Park to convert people’s own stories into poetry on the spot, while acrobatic somersaulted across the promenade in post-apocalyptic romantic show, Acrojou The Wheelhouse.

Zones two to four were based in the town centre and at the Marine Gardens, and were aimed specifically at younger members of the audience, providing under-10s with plenty of fun and games to enjoy.

There were also craft workshops running throughout the day, as well as live music, entertainment and story-telling, a fairground, and street art provided by The SpareParts Arts Festival.

Robert Brown, chairman of Tram Sunday, said: “The sun came out on the afternoon and there were smiles on people’s faces. The rides were all well-used by the children and everybody had a wonderful day.

“There were too many vehicles on display to coun. We had cars, buses, trucks, an American taxi, and even a Bullocks coach and there’s only one or two left in the country.

“Tram Sunday is the largest free event in Wyre and possibly in the North West. It’s always popular every year and it’s getting better and better.

“With the SpareParts festival it seems there have been more people in the town of Fleetwood, and if they’re spending money that’s good for our local businesses.”
