Person 'falls from ride' on Blackpool's South Pier sparking large police presence

Eyewitness have reported a large police presence around South Pier following an alleged accident on the Waltzer amusement ride.

A person reportedly fell from one of the amusement rides located on South Pier at approximately 8pm today (July 21).

Images from the scene show the Waltzer ride surrounded in police tape and a large hole in one of the perspex windows.

Eyewitnesses say a woman allegedly attempted to stand up while the ride was in motion, causing her to fall.

A Force Incident Manager for Lancashire Constabulary said: "Somebody had an accident on South Pier.

"They have fallen from one of the rides but they don't appear to have sustained any serious injuries."

Bystanders have reported seeing three police cars, one van and a number of paramedics at the scene.

Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for further comment.
