Her nominated causes are Doherty’s Destiny, whose representatives visit schools and other youth based settings to raise awareness of bullying causing mental health issues in young people, along with ‘Men’s Sheds’ and Armed Forces Breakfast Clubs in the borough.

However, the mayor also wants to stage sponsored walks which other people in Wyre can also join in, to help boost residents' fitness and allow them to get out and meet other people, under social distancing rules.

She said: "I take my challenge to promote Wyre, engage with the residents and visitors very seriously and part of that is the sponsored slim.

"We have all put on weight over the last year and could really do with losing a few stone, getting fit and improving our life styles.

"I approached Fleetwood Town to help us get fit along the way, and i will also work with Wyre Rangers and doctors surgeries.

"We live in a beautiful area on the coast and I would like residents to join us on our adventure over the next five months.

"We're going to leave until after Christmas and New Year, and then make a serious start!"
