Trinity Hospice festive tree collection donations set new record

Trinity Hospice’s annual collection Christmas Tree collection has already raised more money than ever this year – even before a single tree is picked up.

Staff from the hospice will be joined by a large team of volunteers collecting nearly 1,850 Christmas trees from outside people’s homes who will travel across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre this weekend.

Donation pledges made with the mandatory advance bookings now total £23,000 - £8,000 more than last year, to Trinity officials’ delight.

Corporate partnerships manager Janet Atkins (pictured inset) said: “We are absolutely blown away by people’s generosity this year – we only have a small increase in the number of trees booked for this year’s collection, but it’s raised £8,000 more.

“We have been working hard to make sure this collection is safe for our staff and volunteers, and can’t stress enough the importance of having your tree outside ready for collection.

“We are so grateful to everyone has booked their tree collection, as well as the help and support from Blackpool and Fylde councils.”

Booked trees, which will help with sand dunes restoration by being planted at St Annes beach next month, should be outside homes by 8.30am on Saturday, January 9.
