When it began Carla, who runs the MyBump2baby.com website, thought a few hundreds listeners would be a good reaction to the podcast, but after three months it has 6,000 listeners Carla now has a target for 10,000 in sight.

“The reaction has been brilliant,” she said. “The idea is to bring women together to embrace womanhood and the feedback has been very encouraging.

“I try to make the topics as wide-ranging and current as possible and invite on guest who are always keen to contribute.

“It’s 45 minutes long, goes live every Wednesday and the aiming is to put the key issues in real terms that mums can understand.

“I’m delighted with how popular it is proving.”

Carla, a former pupil of Our Lady Star of the Sea primary School, St Annes and St Bede’s High in Lytham, is mum to George, now aged four, who was born premature.

She started the MyBump2baby website, which started as a directory of services for mums and now extends nationally and includes a regular blog, when she turned up for a mums’ meeting and found it wasn’t on.

“I realised it was important for parents to have a reliable source of up-to-date information. I started it locally and it grew from there.”

Last year, Carla suffered the heartbreaking loss of twins at 16 weeks, while she has since also suffered a miscarriage at six weeks.

“I am a great believer in events such as the recent Baby Loss Awareness Week because that loss never leaves you and it keeps the issue in the public eye,” she said.
