Alexandra Court, on Victoria East, have lost a number of residents to Covid-19 but, because of lockdown restrictions, staff were not able to attend their funerals.

The home's manager, Mark Ratcliff, put the call out for any help with items such as plants, flower pots and even a bench for the special garden.

Earlier this week, a selection of pots and plants were delivered by Lions member Ian Clare to Nurse Tina at the home and the bench was delivered the next day.

The staff have already started on their garden and have painted a summer house and begun planting shrubs and plants into pots.

Once complete it will be a garden for all residents and staff to sit and remember their fellow friends and residents.
