We have teamed up with Blackpool Council in asking residents to follow rules being introduced by the Government so everyone can enjoy a fully-opened Blackpool on June 21.

Residents have shared their thoughts on how important it is to get the resort up and running again - and what they are looking forward to.

Grange Park resident Terry Bennett, 78, agrees that amenities should not open too early before it is deemed safe to do so, even though he can’t wait for things to start getting back to normal.

Terry, of Dinmore Avenue, said: “The thing I’m looking forward to most is getting back to the gym.

“Before lockdown I was doing four two-hour sessions a week at Blackpool Sports Centre and one two-hour cardiac session.

“Unfortunately I have become diabetic again after putting on a bit of weight, because you can’t really do those sort of exercises at home.

“So as soon as lockdown ends I will be down at that gym!”

Terry is a well known community figure on the estate, being a founding member of Grange Park Community Association.

He added: “Another thing I really miss is the activities at the Argosy Court Community centre, where there is always something going on.

“Like a lot of people, I have missed all sorts of things during lockdown.

“But it’s important we get things right before we open everything up again, at least until everyone’s had their second vaccination jab.”

Over the coming weeks there will be videos on the social media accounts of the council and community groups sharing the amazing efforts of residents during the last 12 months.
