Covid restrictions means that this year the town’s festive lighting display will not form part of the usual event.

Instead, everyone is invited by St Annes Town Council, which is responsible for the display, to see the lights go on from the comfort of their homes as the festivities are shown on social media.

The lights will shine from Saturday, November 28 and the Town Council says it is finding new ways to involve people throughout the town.

Council chairman Coun Roger Small said “St Annes always delivers an impressive event and amazing festive lights but for 2020 we have had to take a different approach.

"However, the town is still very much open for business and we anticipate a really festive atmosphere which we hope people will make the most of and will shop locally to support our retailers.”

Plans include a 30 Days of Christmas theme with Facebook activity including video messages from businesses, schools, performers, churches and others.
