Rossall School recalls visit of Prince Philip and pays tribute

Fleetwood's Rossall School has paid tribute to Prince Philip, who visited the independent school back in 1994.

Prince Philip, who died today at the age of 99,visited the school for its 150th anniversary, 27 years ago.

At that time he was welcomed by the school's then Headmaster, Richard Rhodes.

In a tribute to Prince Philip, the current Headmaster, Jeremy Quartermain. , said: "Our heartfelt condolences and thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and all the members of the Royal Family as we reflect upon the very sad news of the passing of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh.

"The School is honoured to have been visited by The Queen and The Duke back in July 1994 for Rossall's 150th Birthday celebration, those memories and images are treasured and are a lasting gift to all our community.

"May he rest in peace and rise in glory."
