The school says this has become more of a problem in recent weeks and some pupils are back at school and trying to be socially distanced.

A school spokesman said: “We would like to remind the local community and visitors to the area that Rossall School grounds are not for public use.

“Whilst we appreciate the grounds of Rossall are enticing to enter from the promenade or via the public footpath, this area is private property.

“Unauthorised access on to Rossall School from the front or rear of the property is strictly prohibited, as is access to the site from the public footpath running from the private car park directly to the sea wall.”

"A number of our younger pupils returned to school this week and there are a small number of boarding pupils resident in the boarding community.

"The children are social distancing as they play and take part in activities, and it is obviously irresponsible to enter the School site unless authorised to do so.

"We are more than happy to arrange appointments for visitors to view the campus, these must be pre booked in advance."
