Hide AdGuides enjoy a varied, girl-led programme of activities – incorporating everything from world issues and science to adventure sports, social action and international travel.
Jacky Ramsden, commissioner for the Fylde, said: “I have had the most extraordinary experiences through Guiding – I’ve looked after the FA cup for a weekend, been to Buckingham palace twice, met various members of the royal family, travelled to the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway and the Falklands but most of all, I have been inspired by the girls and tried things I would never have done, if it hadn’t been for them.
“I would recommend Guiding to youngsters and adults alike.”

Hide AdGirlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities and faiths. From running a group, to giving just one or two hours a month, volunteering is flexible and can fit around a busy lifestyle. There are a huge number of ways volunteers can support girls in Guiding, from training as a leader to smaller supporting roles including accounting, driving and event helpers.
A volunteering event is taking place, for people to find out more about volunteering and enjoy coffee, cake and a chat, at Kirkham United Reform Church, on Saturday, April 23, between 10am and noon. There will be an activity corner for children.
