Sandstone Care Group is investing more than £500,000 on improvements at its three North West care homes – Fleetwood Hall, Longridge Hall in Preston and St Helens Hall in St Helens.

The upgrade is aimed at ensuring that the homes are able to offer facilities of the highest standard and provide residents with the safest possible environment against the continuing threat of Covi-19.

In addition to its own investment, Sandstone has utilised funding from the Government’s Infection Control Fund which is helping care homes to implement the strongest possible measures against the virus.

This has helped ensure staff always have access to full PPE, as well as maintaining high levels of infection control throughout the home.

In addition, bedrooms have been redecorated, new carpets purchased and garden furniture acquired to facilitate garden visits for relatives. Plans are in place to create safe visiting space inside the home during winter.

The wider refurbishment programme at Fleetwood Hall is scheduled to start in January 2021 and will include the refurbishment of all communal areas and creation of a new hair and beauty salon.

James Parkin, one of the directors of Sandstone Care Group, said: “Fleetwood Hall is a well-established care home in the area with a strong community spirit.

“We are committed to ongoing investment in all of the care homes that we own and we hope our residents and their families will see a marked difference when the refurbishment of Fleetwood Hall is completed.

“We are also investing to ensure that our homes provide residents, staff and visitors with the safest possible environment against the continuing threat of coronavirus.

“The pandemic has provided enormous challenges for the entire care sector, but we are hugely grateful for the way staff, residents and families have pulled together to help us get through this testing time."

The purpose-built care home in Chatsworth Avenue has 62 bedrooms, all with en-suite wet rooms, and offers 24-hour residential care.

The home, which has a ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission, also has a dedicated dementia floor.

There are also regular, stimulating activities provided for residents throughout the week.

Sandstone acquired the three homes from Orchard Care Homes earlier this year.
