Jayne Robinson's new shop, Baby Jane, on St Peter's Place will officially open on Saturday August 29.

The business woman, who lives near Ingleton in North Yorkshire, is not a native to the Fylde coast but had been planning to open a shop in the area for some time.

Her show will sell a range of lingerie which includes some American labels and the premises will even boast a dance fitness pole, an unusual feature.

Jayne, 47, says: "It will be very different to what is already in Fleetwood.

"I wanted to try something on the Fylde coast and I really think Fleetwood has potential and is on the way up.

"It's been frustrating because of the Covid situation, which has held things up for several months.

"I think that once things have settled down, Fleetwood is a great place for a new business.

"There are some new new developments which I think are going to be very positive for the town."

Jayne is aware that In June, Wyre Council submitted a bid for £22m to the High Streets Fund to help deliver its ambitious vision for Fleetwood to kick-start regeneration of the town centre, which has been struggling for many years after the loss of key industries.

She said: "I think the town has a great deal of potential and I've noticed that a few of the empty-boarded up shops I saw about six months ago have now got businesses set up there.

"That's another good sign.

"The country's high streets have been struggling over the last few years but I think they will make a comeback.

"Shopping online is great and makes things easier, but you can't beat going into a shop and having a proper looks at the goods.

"The shop will be very funky as well, a really interesting experience for shoppers, with the way it looks inside, the pole and the items we sell - plus the double-fronted window display!"
