The car park is owned by Wyre Council and a council spokesman said: " The mobile testing unit will be open to absolutely anyone with symptoms, not just people in Wyre."

People must book in advance in order to get a test, and they will only be able to book from the evening before testing begins.

Tests should be booked as soon as symptoms begin at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

Symptoms include loss/change in sense of smell; loss/change in sense of taste; high temperature, a new continuous cough.

Walk-through testing will also be available through appointment only.

Poeple can call 119 to book your place.

The car park will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future. The nearest council car park is at Custom House Lane in Fleetwood.

Anyone testing positive for the virus will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace to help them track their contacts.

This will help people to identify who they may have been in close contact with, advising them to stay at home for 14 days to prevent them from unknowingly spreading the virus.

They will be advised to also book at test if they develop symptoms.
