An ambitious scheme originally for 130 homes was approved in 2017 but hit a setback last October when proposals for a variation were refused by Wyre planners.

But the applicants took the matter to the Planning Inspectorate on appeal, and were successful on April 1, with the scheme now set at 102 homes.

Now the they have lodged a reserved matters application with planners at Wyre, applying for approval over the layout, landscaping, scale and appearance of the proposed development.

The original application for outline planning permission did receive objections from nearby residents who raised a number of concerns, including fears over worsening congestion, already an issue on the town’s main roads at peak times.

However, in the latest planning statement on behalf of the applicants, agents PWA Planning noted that the site had many advantages for development.

PWA noted: “The site is located within walking distance to Poulton-le-Fylde town centre, which offers a plethora of different services, which includes multiple restaurants; cafes; banks and schools amongst other services.

“The site is fully accessible by various modes of transport and is a sustainable location within close proximity to local services and public transport.”

The proposed housing development will include a number of affordable homes as required in the local plan.
