'He pulled up in a taxi & came straight in'- magician David Blaine visits Quilligan's Café Bar in Blackpool
A Lancashire cafe has shared its delight at being visited by a world famous magician.
Last week, Blackpool was home to the The Blackpool Magic Convention, a four day event held at the Winter Gardens.
Dating back to 1952, this year’s celebration saw over 5000 magicians head to the seaside town, including worldwide artists such as Hans Klok, Jack Rhodes, Sigfried and Joy, and Matt Edwards, ready to show off their skills.
As well as the thousands of fans heading to Blackpool to get in on the fun, some famous faces also made the trip - including American magician, mentalist and endurance performer, David Blaine.
Numerous members of the public took to social media over the four days to share their own pictures of themselves with David , having bumped into the 52-year-old star at the convention.
Joining in on such posts was then the iconic Church Street cafe and restaurant, Quilligan’s Cafe Bar, who took to social media to reveal the illusionist had paid them a visit
Quilligan’s shared a photo of David with two of their staff members inside the Grade II listed venue to Facebook alongside the caption: “What a fabulous start to the Magicians conference, we had the pleasure of serving David Blaine”.
Lisa Quilligan, who has owned the business alongside her husband Shaun and sons Cole and Mason for the past 27 years, said: “David Blaine literally pulled up in a taxi so he knew he was coming here, somebody must have told him to come here.
“He pulled up in a taxi, got out the taxi, and came straight in the door.
“He was lovely, very friendly. He was chatting to my sons for ages, a really nice lad.”

Lisa’s son Cole, who works as the front of house then revealed that David ordered a spinach omelette with their famous big fat chips and an oat milk latte.
Cole added: “He was a lovely, humble guy gave me all the time in the world and wanted to chat and talked to me about the cafe and our family run business”
David is not the only star to have visited Quilligan’s, the venue has also served fellow illusionist Dynamo, comedian Peter Kay, boxer Tyson Fury, singer Kerry Katona, comedian Maisie Adam and Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy.
Lisa even told us that Jennifer Ellison is a regular when the dance competitions are on at the Winter Gardens, as is actor Andy Nyman, who most recently brought his friends John Thomson and Stephen Mulhern along with him!

Considered a firm favourite in Blackpool, Quilligans offers an all day menu featuring breakfast items, sandwiches, pasta dishes and roast dinners amongst other options.
Located within the iconic Winter Gardens, Quilligan’s is also home to panels created by the artist W.J. Neatby.
In its history, the site had been used as a car salesroom, a Vernon Humpage shoe shop and then Blackpool Council transformed the empty shop space in the Winter Gardens Theatre Bar.
