A spokesman for the Lytham Club Day committee said: “Michael was a true gentleman with a lovely nature. He served on our committee for over 40 years and was a much loved member of our Club Day team.

“He was a hands-on committee member, helping to prepare for the day by building stages and setting out the arena. Michael had a passion for writing and was a great orator.

“Michael was very keen on local history and had several books published. He was instrumental in pulling together two Club Day exhibitions, the last one was held at Lytham Hall where he gave a very eloquent talk about the history of Lytham Hall and Club Day in the marquee. He was made an honorary Vice President in 1995 and despite recent illness he was still very much involved in Club Day.”

Mr Boddy’s funeral will take place at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Lytham, on Friday. Attendance is by invitation only due to Covid-19 restrictions. Donations may be sent to the MS Society, Stroke Association or British Heart Foundation.
