Layton mum tackles lockdown blues with rock songs

By painting her favourite song lyrics onto rocks, one Layton mum banished her lockdown blues - and found sharing her creations good for the soul.

Michaela Bradwell, 26, from Layton is a support worker and mum to Avery, two.

After feeling like the coronavirus lockdown was taking its toll on her mental health, Michaela decided to combine creativity with her love of music, and came up with Songs on Rocks.

"Everywhere I looked was negativity, and I'm the kind of person who likes to make others happy," she said.

"I'm quite positive, so I needed to do something to engage me and make me excited again.

"I was going to just paint random things onto rocks, but because I love music so much I wanted to get the songs I love out there too."

Michaela paints song lyrics on the front of the rocks, with the song title and artist on the back.

By leaving the rocks around the areas she visits with daughter Avery, she hoped to encourage others to listen to the music she loves to uplift them.

"Three people have sent me a message already after finding the rocks," Michaela continued.

"It seems to make their day as much as it makes mine."
