And only four days after that, he died in the hospital with wife Kimberley by his side, leaving behind a devastated family including two much younger children.

Son Aaron Green, 36, of Cleveleys, said things had happened so quickly that David was unable to put any provisions into place for his funeral costs.

The family have set up a JustGiving page to help them and set a target of of £2,250.

So far the fund has raised £1,320, with the funeral expected to cost around £3,000

Aaron, one of three children from David's first marriage, said: "It has been a terrible shock for us all.

"He had been struggling with his breathing for a while but we had no idea it would be stage four cancer.

"The next thing was that he was in hospital with pneumonia fighting for his life, but he didn't respond to treatment and suddenly we'd lost him.

"What made it harder was that we couldn't visit him, because of the Covid situation, we couldn't say our goodbyes in person.

"Thankfully dad's wife, Kimberly was able to see him on his last day and was with him when he died.

"As a family we have all chipped in to the funeral costs but we are struggling at the moment and it has caught us off balance."

David was self employed and had a house waste removal business, but trade had suffered because of the pandemic.
