Incoming High Sheriff of Lancashire pays tribute to Prince Philip

The incoming High Sheriff of Lancashire has paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.

Edwin Booth chairman and CEO of the Booths supermarket chain, is due to be sworn in as High Sheriff this weekend.

Mr Booth said: “My family and I send our deepest and sincerest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and her family.

"The Duke of Edinburgh was an extraordinary public servant and who will be remembered most of all for his devotion and love for the Queen.

"Prince Philip earned the affection Lancashire on his many visits to the county and we pay tribute and thanks for his exemplary public service to the United Kingdom.”

Mr Booth will succeed Catherine Penny when he is sworn in on Sunday.
