Grange Park residents help Palatine Rotarians raise £352 for polio campaign

Residents in Grange Park helped boost a fund which supports polio sufferers across the globe, following a talk by Blackpool-based Rotarians.

The talk about polio eradication was given by Sue Rooker, who is president-elect of the Palatine Rotary Club.

The event was held at The Grange community hall on the estate, with those attending being socially distanced and sitting in family groups.

Although only 26 people were allowed in the venue, an impressive total of £352.62 was raised, through the selling crocus lapel pins and a collection.

Terry Harrison, president of Palatine Rotary Club, said: "We managed to raise an impressive amount for Rotary Internation's polio eradication campaign.

"I would just like to say thankyou to all who donated ,every penny helps these children around the world."

Palatine Rotary Club normally holds its meetings at the Cliffs Hotel on Blackpool Promenade, but during the pandemic the sessions have been held via social media platform, Zoom.
