Bryan Moore turned 100 earlier this month. It was a double celebration for the sporting stalwart on Thursday, August 13, as he paid a visit to the Spire Hospital in Blackpool, where he is making good progress in his ongoing fight against skin cancer.

He said: “I think it’s unbelievable. I can’t imagine being 100. My mobility is a bit restricted because of a hip problem, but my brain is working very well. I think it’s down to a great deal of luck, the right genes, the support of my family, keeping the brain active and keeping busy.”

He said: “I feel very optimistic. The treatment I have been receiving has been magnificent - first class. I couldn’t wish for better treatment.”
