Property owner Richard Powell, 50, hoped that the £242 per night North Promenade property, on the corner of Beach Road, would encourage more people from all over the world to visit the Fylde coast town.

Mr Powell, who played in net for Blackpool FC in 1988 and began his football career at just 16 years old, built the house seven years ago, and has rented it to holiday makers for the past four years.

"I meet everyone who stays in the house, and always recommend local restaurants, bars and things to do. there are so many great places to recommend on the Fylde coast.

"Everyone who has stayed has loved Cleveleys. Now I'm hoping to attract bigger groups of people to help to give the economy in Cleveleys a boost."

Richard added that he was shocked when he heard the house was featured in the Top 10 most wish-listed Airbnb properties in the UK, but pleased that Cleveleys was being "put on the map."
