Hide AdCoun Paul Ellison, councillor for Marsh Mill ward, said he was 'very sad' to see the miniature railway go.
"This was all very sudden and I didn't know anything about it until yesterday (April 9.)
"I have spoken to the FSME and they had already informed Wyre council in writing that they wished to retire, and the track has started to be dismantled.
"I'm very sad to see it go, and of course it isn't what I wanted for Marsh Mill ward. I have taken my four children on the miniature train for years, and rode on it myself when I was a child, it's a shame."

Hide AdA spokesman for Wyre council said: "The club that runs the model railway have decided that they are no longer able to run it.
"They reported this was due to lack of members and their belief they are not in a position to run it safely with the lack of members.
"They have a lease until 2024 but upon the association being terminated they have the right under the terms of the lease to surrender the lease back to the council.
"They are clearing the site as required under the terms of the lease."
