It means that more than a third of the town's population, which is around 26,000, have been covered by their first jabs.

However, coordinators of the programme are warning residents to ignore Facebook posts about the vaccination schedules and only take advice from official channels.

It comes after a misleading post was sent out by individuals on social media, which led to some people having to be turned away from the vaccination sessions last weekend.

The vaccination centre, at the Health & Wellbeing Centre, on Dock Street is expected to be busy again this weekend as well as other venues across the Fylde Coast.

Sessions are being coordinated by O'Brien's Pharmacy and the town's GP practices.

A spokesman said: "Please continue to be careful what you read on social media and only share posts from an official UK Government, NHS or local authority account.

"Last weekend a post on Facebook gave false information and led to some people coming along only to be turned away.

"You should only attend if you have been contacted by the NHS and have a confirmed appointment."
