The 23-year-old held a special charity night, at the Shovels Inn, Hambleton, which included getting her head shaved.

She has sent the hair which was cut off to the Little Princess Trust, which makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

She went from having locks midway down her upper-arm to a number two razor.

And the money raised will allow Gabby to fund a volunteering mission in Nepal.

Gabby, from Knott End, will be heading out to Nepal next month, a county badly hit by devastating earthquakes, which is still rebuilding and recovering.

She will be acting as a VSO volunteer to help with a project in a local community and school, in Kathmandu.

Gabby said: “The charity night was really successful and I raised just over £500 – which brought my total to £1,045, with donations still coming in.

“I have sent my hair that was cut off to the Little Princess Trust and hope a child will benefit from this.

“On the night, the venue was heaving and I am grateful to all who attended and supported and donated so generously to my cause.

“We held a raffle with 37 donated prizes from local businesses, friends and family. It was a fun night for all.

“My charity night and head shave has generated a lot of interest and raised awareness for VSO and the Little Princess Trust.

“My friend who is a photographer very kindly did a free photoshoot of my new look.

“It’s not long to go now until I go to Nepal.”
