Teresa Perry, 53, of Green Drive, Cleveleys, is the manager of Trinity Hospice's charity shop on Victoria Road West, Cleveleys.

On April 22, she decided to shave her head to raise much-needed funds for the hospice on Low Moor Road, Bispham, as she was concerned about the fall in revenue due to shop closures.

Teresa said: "The money Trinity would usually get from our shops isn't there at the moment, and we've had to cancel lots of events because of the coronavirus pandemic, so I wanted to try and help.

"I decided to shave my head to raise some money. I've done it before, around five years ago to raise money for Cancer Research, so I wasn't worried about it.

"But I was more nervous this time because my husband David, who is a scaffolder- not a barber- had to shave it and I didn't know what on earth I'd look like afterwards.

"Luckily, he did a really good job."

Teresa's daughter Ashleigh, 23, decided to set a Go Fund Me page up for her mum to allow donations to Trinity Hospice, which to date has reached £580.

Mrs Perry wanted to raise money for the hospice, not only because she works in one of its shops, but also because the hospice has provided care for her friends and family in the past.

Kind-hearted Teresa has been kept busy during the pandemic by volunteering to help over 200 of the Fylde coast's volunteers, checking up on their well-being and looking after the closed shops.

Paul Guest, Trinity's head of retail, said: "Teresa is a valued member of the retail team. Our shops are closed but she has been helping with compliance through the lockdown and wanted to raise money for Trinity, because the challenge we face on income generation right now is acute.

"It’s not the first time she has helped fund-raise, but she couldn’t rest until she had contributed again, so off with her hair. One brave lady and a fantastic achievement – especially when every penny counts.”
