Miss Lancashire Olivia Seed, from North Shore, is gearing up for four physical challenges over the course of the year, under the title #SponsoredSweat2017.

She took on a similar feat last year, which included the Three Peaks Challenge, one-mile swim and 25 mile cycle ride, in aid of the Variety Children’s Charity.

She will also be holding car boot sales, bake sales and other mini boosters, to engage the local community and raise funds for a good cause – Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP), which helps and supports disadvantaged children all over the world.

Olivia – who is a member of the Variety Blackpool committee – has taken on the fundraising as part of her bid to be crowned Miss England.

The 19-year-old business and communications university student will take part in the three-day Miss England grand final in Birmingham in July, where there will be an evening wear round, talent round and eco-dress round, in which Olivia will attempt to impress the judges.

Her challenges for her Sponsored Sweat will include a one-mile swim, 34 mile bike ride across the Fylde coast, a hike up Scafell Pike and kayaking the length of Lake Windermere – 11 miles, with friends.

She said: “Beauty With A Purpose is at the heart of Miss World and Miss England.

“It provides humanitarian aid to children globally and supports local charities.

“Among the projects it has supported are abandoned children in Vietnam, Operation Hunger and the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Africa and those affecting by the Asian tsunami.

“I completed four challenges last year and will do another four this year.

“The point of it is to sweat for charity.

People place donations from their recognition of our hard work, but also as a bet against us finishing – something I feel motivates us as a team to complete all the challenges.

“Miss England is the largest, most prestigious pageant in the country. These competitions are no longer based on appearance or body type.

“Contestants have to be able to speak passionately about their concerns and put time and effort into meaningful charity work and community projects.

“At the moment, I am looking for a sponsor. Without a sponsor I won’t be featured on a page in the programme for the final, just listed at the back with name and a small picture.

“The deadline for sponsors to sign up is June 1.

“I’m grateful for all support from people on the Fylde coast, whether it be donations, help or sponsorship.”

Olivia has also set up The Cost Of Beauty campaign to highlight the issues of animal cruelty and animal testing and teamed up with photographer and stylist Sophie Colquhoun, make-up artist Hannah Gallagher and Junior Miss Lancashire Ammie Shipton.
