Burnley's Jordan North pipped at post in 'I'm a Celebrity' final but fans declare he will always be their 'king'

Jordan, who grew up in Harle Syke, lost out to CBeebies presenter Giovanna Fletcher who was. crowned the first Queen of the Castle in the show. TV presenter Vernon Kay came in third place.

Gracious in defeat, Jordan said taking part in the show had been ' the best experience of my life.'

He told presenters Ant and Dec: "This has changed me as a person, i have grown massively in confidence but I never once thought I stood a chance of getting to the final.

"2020 has been an awful year but this has been the perfect way to end it."

Revealing that he almost backed out of taking part in the show Jordan said he had made' friends for life' in the show.

During his time in the show Jordan has helped to raise cash for the hospice without even knowing after Burnley Football Club produced two special t-shirts bearing his mantra 'happy place, happy place, Turf Moor' reflecting his passion for the Clarets. And proceeds from the sales will be donated to the hospice and Burnley Community Kitchen.

Congratulating Jordan on helping to raise thousands of pounds for charity while he was in the show, Burnley Football Club sent out a 'well done' message to him. Fans also took to social media to heap praise on Jordan, who attended St James, Lanehead Primary School.

A staggering 12 million viewers voted in last night's show which saw Jordan face his final trial and one of his biggest fears.

Encased in a 'mummy' style box for 10 minutes with 50 snakes in the 'Iron Maiden' challenge, he kept viewers entertained with a stream of 'small talk' to Ant and Dec.

Jordan had the show's presenters in hysterics asking about their Christmas plans and even revealing that he had always been a fan of the show from being a child and his mum, Wendy, allowed him to ring and vote for previous winner Kerry Katona.

Successfully completing the challenge to win stars for his favourite meal, which was corned beef hash, Jordan described the ordeal as 'hell' and 'like being at Ewood Park.'

During his final interview Jordan said was thrilled to have faced all his fears and felt like he could take anything but he did say none of the trials were easy and were worse in real life than when you saw them on the television.

Jordan won the hearts of viewers from the minute he appeared on the screen and was promptly sick when faced with the prospect of abseiling down a mountain!

Not afraid to admit he was 'scared of everything' viewers voted for the Radio One DJ to take part in four trials including the 'Trap Door' challenge where he was locked in an underground box filled with snakes.

But he was the pride of the camp, viewers and his family when he completed the task with fellow contestant, Shane Richie.

A swell of support for Jordan in Burnley saw pupils at St James create images of their own 'happy places' and also make a series of 'good luck' posters for him.

The Lawrence Hotel in Padiham was temporarily re-named The Jordan Hotel in his honour and Burnley FC captain Ben Mee recorded a special video message to wish Jordan luck.

Jordan's older brother, Ryan,also recorded a moving video message to let him know how proud his family was of him.

And Cheryl Jackson, who owns newly opened Cuppa Cakes in Burnley, made 'Team Jordan' cupcakes with 50 pence from each one sold donated to the hospice.
