Andy and Becky Halliwell, both 35, of Levine Avenue in Marton, love Halloween so much they got married on October 31 and they are not letting Covid-19 get in the way of some spooky fun as they celebrate their scary day.

Andy said getting married on Halloween was 'perfect' for the couple.

He said: "It kind of just made sense to us when we were going through the dates and we were thinking of different ideas around six years ago wondering what date we should go for and we rang up the Tiffany's Hotel on the Prom and asked them if Halloween was available and they said it was so it was perfect so it was kind of a no brainer for us

"To celebrate the anniversary and Halloween with obviously everything that's been going and with us planning for Halloween, which for us starts around the end of July and beginning of August, we were mindful of everything and aware the rules kept changing regularly."

With the rules about not entering gardens, the couple and their three-year-old son Charlie, decided to think of something to get around the problem.

Andy said: "We thought that the only way that we're going to be able to to carry on with the trick or treating is to is to come up with something and we thought how do we get the sweets from our door to the kids on the street and we thought a pulley system would be great.

"We have got his pumpkin like scarecrow man, which we've had for a couple years and not really done anything with so we thought he would be perfect to go and deliver the sweets so the pulley system kind of came came to fruition through that and it went through two or three different design stages before we came up with what we've got now"

Becky added: "All the treats are bagged up and will be flown out from our door to the gate for anyone who wants to have some sweets."

Andy explained how Halloween always bring fun for the family and it means even more this year.

He said: "Just because as there is a global pandemic going on, it doesn't mean everything has to stop. I mean obviously things have changed but we've decorated the house inside, more than we've ever done previously and we've got a Halloween tree up for the first time this year, which will be a new tradition that we're going to carry on.

"People on our street know that we do Halloween every year where we go all out and decorate the south side of the house every year.

"Where we live in Marton, a few of the other houses have also started to decorate as well this year and it's nice to see that that community spirit."
