The Grundy Art Gallery's own education officer, Rubbia Ullah, received the Marsh Award for Excellence in Gallery Education on Thursday.

The award, which is run by the National Association for Gallery Education and is now in its 10th year, recognizes the hard work and dedication of people working in gallery, museum and arts education. Nine people, including Rubbia, were presented with £500 prizes by Professor Rod Bugg, Ambassador for the Marsh Christian Trust, in a virtual ceremony.

As education officer at The Grundy, Rubbia is responsible for the gallery's education programme and delivers art projects to young people in secure units and mental health units. She has also worked freeland as an artist for Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery and Z-Arts, and as arts programmer for the Manchester Mela Festival of South Asian Culture.

Curator Paulette Brien said: “Rubbia came into post at Grundy Art Gallery, she quickly established herself as a vital member of the small but ambitious team.”
