The 24-year-old from Thornton had entered the pageant – Britain’s longest-running seaside beauty contest – twice previously and last year finished as runner-up in second place.

But this year it was her time to shine, as she impressed the judges to be given the 2016 crown.

She first took part in 2011, aged just 19.

Beth, who runs her own semi-permanent make-up business, said she was delighted to have scooped the title at the third attempt.

But there was no wild partying to celebrate the occasion – instead she enjoyed a cup of tea at home with her mum when the final had drawn to a close.

She said: “I’m really over-the-moon. It’s always an amazing experience to take part in the Miss Blackpool competition, so to win is just incredible.

“I was runner-up last year and wasn’t really sure whether to do it again this year at first, but now I’m so glad I did.

“It’s always such a fun event. You make lifelong friends – I’m still in contact with the girls I met when I took part in 2011.

“All the girls are so lovely, everyone helps each other backstage, it’s so friendly. Miss Blackpool isn’t like your typical pageant at all. We all have such a laugh together.”

One of Beth’s winning outfits was in fact, a second-hand dress she picked up for just £40.

She said: “It was a former pageant contestant’s dress, these things can end up being expensive. But I loved it straight away and it fitted perfectly. And it was a bargain!”

Former Cardinal Allen pupil Beth is now looking forward to making public appearances and doing charity events.

“It’s a real honour to represent my home town. I hope I can be a role model – I work hard and have done well for myself. Winning Miss Blackpool means the world to me.”
