9 pics as Dolly’s doggy daycare gets set to open in Thornton

A doggy daycare aimed at small and medium breeds who are prone to anxiety is getting ready to open its doors in Thornton.

Dolly’s Daycare, based at Red Marsh Industrial Estate, Thornton, is owned by Sophie Smith, 32, and her partner and is named after her dog Dolly.

She said: "Dolly's daycare is named after my own dog Dolly Beezer.

"Dolly was an only dog who didn't like to be left alone and as a result I tried to find a daycare that was suitable for her, she had anxiety and was very timid around other dogs.

“Other daycares were too big, they were open plan and didn't have smaller separate areas for dogs like mine so they can be introduced slowly and grow confidence.

“Because I couldn't find a daycare I got Dolly a friend, her sister Daisy Beezer. This helped but I really wanted them to be social and make friends.

“I decided to open my own daycare for small and medium dogs like mine that are not ready for a large busy environments like the other daycares offered.”

After four weeks and 12 hour days of painting and building and sorting paperwork the team are finally ready to open in the next couple of weeks.
