7. Jelly Babies
The sweets were invented in 1864 by an Austrian immigrant working at Fryers of Lancashire, and were originally marketed as "Unclaimed Babies". By 1918 they were produced by Bassett's in Sheffield as "Peace Babies", to mark the end of World War I. Photo: Adobe

9. British biologist and palaeontologist Sir Richard Owen
Former Lancaster Royal Grammar School pupil turned British biologist and palaeontologist Sir Richard Owen, pictured in 1875, is known for coining the word 'dinosauria' from which the term dinosaur derives. 10. Inbev Brewery, Samlesbury
Samlesbury Brewery was built by Whitbread in 1972 and came into the ownership of Interbrew (as it then was) following Whitbread’s decision to sell its breweries and brewing interests in 2000.
