Paving upcycled from St Annes Square offers taste of new look at £1.6m Pier Link
“It's a great example of sustainable regeneration in action”
Paving upcycled from the recently-refurbished St Annes Square has brought a bright new look to a key feature of the latest phase of the town’s improvement scheme.
As part of the Pier Link improvements, original York Stone paving which was previously in the Square, has been carefully relaid and jet washed and inlaid with red blister tactile paving at what is to be a second crossing from St Annes Road West to the pier and promenade.

A spokesperson for Fylde Council, which has commissioned the work, said: “It's a great example of sustainable regeneration in action, giving existing materials a new lease of life while restoring and celebrating what makes St Annes special.
“Years of weather have been washed away, revealing the stone's lovely natural golden tones.”
The Pier Link between Clifton Drive and the Promenade, is Phase Two of the St Annes town centre improvements, following the refurbishment of St Annes Square in a £1.13m scheme completed last year.
When work started on February 23, the Pier Link scheme was projected to last 18 weeks but it is still ongoing, with an update on completion said by the council to be expected later this month or early next .
