Party goes on for sunkissed Loony bunch

Self-proclaimed loonies from the Monster Raving Loony Party took to the streets of Blackpool to urge people to ‘vote for insanity’ at their annual party conference at the weekend.

Celebrations took place at the Uncle Tom’s Cabin pub on Queen’s Promenade on Friday and Sunday, while Saturday saw party leader Alan ‘Howling Laud’ Hope lead his loony band on an open-topped bus tour around the resort.

Howling Laud said: “We had an excellent turnout. It was a fantastic day for our 32nd party conference and we’ve never had one in bad weather yet. The sun always shines on the Loonies!

“On the bus tour going around Blackpool, if a smile was a vote we’d win by a landslide. Everyone thought it was wonderful that we were there.

“We love Blackpool and we would like to thank all the people for turning out and supporting us, and if we’ve paved the way for bigger political parties having conferences here that’s all the better.

“But there’s none bigger than the Monster Raving Loony Party!

“We’re the party that everybody loves. We’re the party that’s on everybody’s side.

“We’ll certainly have a candidate in Blackpool at the next election.”
