Oyston harassment case against two Pool fans dropped

David Ragozzino, 34, of Oakwood Close, Marton and Stephen Reed, 58, of Common Edge Road, Marton were accused of sending Oyston numerous offensive texts between April and July last year.

They were also accused of preparing an offensive e-mail to be sent to Oyston’s wife, Victoria.

But police today the charges have been dropped following a ‘recent review of the evidence the Crown Prosecution Service’.

A Lancashire Police statement to The Gazette said: “We launched an investigation in March last year following allegations that the chairman of Blackpool Football Club Karl Oyston was being harassed by text message.

“Two men were arrested and charged by the police in October with harassment, but following a recent review of the evidence the Crown Prosecution Service has now decided that the case should be discontinued. We support their decision.

“All the parties have been informed of the decision.”

The decision comes after a court heard in a case against Pool supporter Mark Rushton back in January that Oyston twice had be told to keep away from the windows and stop what an officer called ‘beckoning and enticing’ fans during a Bloomfield Road pitch invasion in May last year.

It’s one of many recent court cases surrounding the Seasiders chairman, who has civil legal action against both Ragozzino and Reed ongoing.
