Blackpool is at tier 3 alert state on the Government’s Covid19 scale. This is the highest alert state in the land. I have no qualms about this, as saving lives matters.

What I do ask is this government supports all in our moment of need.

So why have the hotels in Blackpool not been closed?

The government says that the highest Covid alert locations, such as Blackpool, should be avoided and that you should avoid staying overnight in a very high Covid alert area. So why are casinos, gyms etc closed but hotels, guest houses and B&Bs still open? People are quite rightly heeding the Goverment’s advice and staying away. They are not staying overnight.

It might be me but I think it might mean paying out if hotels were closed!

This Goverment is trying to beat this pandemic on the cheap.

Shame on you!

Take a lesson from Edna... and her lard

It is interesting to learn that reaching 108 years old doesn’t require healthy food options (‘Edna is oldest in the County’, The Gazette October 20) when this lady, up to the day she moved at 100 years old, cooked her own chips in her own chip pan, using lard!

The article goes on to report that Edna is healthy and doesn’t miss a thing. So, all you healthy eating gurus out there who are constantly drumming into us about cooking in oil and numerous other supposedly healthy options, take a look at Edna, she cooked her chips in lard until she was 100 years old and has still reached 108.

Get gran’s cook books out and revive those stodgy suet puddings! Delicious!

Is Big Brother among us?

Has the Government shot itself in the foot with regard to its Track and Trace app?

Although not a supporter of the strategy now imposed upon us by Boris Johnson and his cohorts, I have done my best to adhere to the advice. I even downloaded the Track and Trace app.

However, now it would appear that the police are going to be given access to personal data via this app, I have now disabled it. I don’t think I will be the only one to take this course of action. Big Brother is among us. We are becoming close to being a police state, and not so slowly!

Blackpool isn’t the only place for Scots

I hope the people of Blackpool were not offended by Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, telling Scots to avoid visiting Blackpool.

Is Blackpool the only place Scots visit? Many people from other countries are always visiting Edinburgh and attending universities, they are always welcome.

In a Scottish newspaper it read “Blackpool is a poor town”. Growing up in old Glasgow I learned you must never kick a dog when it’s down. Nicola Sturgeon had no right to specifically mention Blackpool was the problem.

Nicola Sturgeon and SNP politicians blame the Tories for all their problems to divert attention away from Scottish government responsibilities and failings.

I read Scots enjoy £1,600 more per head than the rest of the UK. When the EU gave rewards to cities like Glasgow, Manchester etc I wrote and asked could Lancashire have more funding for culture, as we only got £7 per person.

SNP politicians are always plotting ways to turn Coronavirus to their advantage. Photos in newspapers are always of Nicola Sturgeon with children with musical instruments etc, headlines read ‘UK Failed Scots’, ‘Union is finished’.

The SNP are marching to a new future with a new Scotland to be with EU. Apparently the SNP Government will give full citizenship and a Scottish passport to all who are living in Scotland on day independence is gained.

The SNP are planning a new Scotland as Nicola Sturgeon wrote an article about how old Scotland had gone and there is a new Scotland now.
