Many return to civilian life, only to find great difficulty in re-adapting. These men and women have done and continue to do, so much for our security and our way of life and The Royal British Legion is committed to supporting them and, where necessary, their families and their dependents.

Today, British Service men and women continue to bravely play their part in peacekeeping forces in all parts of the World. When they return to civilian life, The Royal British Legion will be there for them, as it is for veterans of the World Wars, The Gulf, The Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan and the many other peacetime conflicts since 1945.

The Royal British Legion, as a charity, is entirely reliant upon public support for its funding, and The Poppy Appeal is a vital part of the Legion’s fundraising efforts. Through the Poppy Appeal, the Legion can help Service and ex-Service men and women and their dependents through times of hardship and distress.

Remembrance Day brings together the communities of our country to commemorate those who sacrificed their youth for our freedom. Help the Poppy Appeal to help those who have given so much.

Tory councillors should speak out

It seems the Government is hellbent on flouting the democratic wishes of the people of the Fylde and allow fracking to plough ahead no matter what.

The few supporters the industry has are all hoping to make a fast buck at the expense of the environment and the hundreds of job losses forecast in the holiday and farming industries in the Fylde.

One would hope that the local Conservative councillors in the Fylde, who until now have been conspicuous by their silence over fracking, will finally have the courage to speak out either in favour or against the Government’s decision .

Simple answer is there is no money

Marjorie Nye wrote in asking questions of Theresa May on the battle to get Britain’s finances back on track (Your Say, Gazette, October 8).

I feel this sentence explains all. On leaving his position as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, following the change of British government in May 2010, Labour’s Liam Byrne stated: “There’s no money left.”

I think that answers your questions Marjorie.

Have blue passports and I’ll vote remain

Now that everyone has experienced the minor economic and political upheaval caused by Brexit, perhaps it is time for a second referendum.

Remainers could win my vote this time, were they prepared to offer minor concessions like blue passports, the right to sell petrol by the gallon and a return to weather forecasts in comprehensible units.
