On a journey to a positive outcome

The event at N-Vision HQ on Bosworth Place in South Shore celebrated the Talking Newspaper’s 40th birthday and featured a flower festival, chain saw sculptor James Shelliker carving out a bench with an owl for the Princess Alexandra Home residents and a tour of the centre.

Blackpool Tower was also lit up in the charity’s colours blue and white on Thursday, June 29 and Friday, June 30, in celebration of the charity and the Talking Newspaper, which reaches out to 320 subscribers every week.

There are around 240 volunteers who support the services offered by N-Vision.

Ruth Lambert, N-Vision CEO, said: “All our volunteers are so important to us, we can’t manage without them.

“They bring with them their experience, skills and care.

“Imagine being told the catastrophic news that you are losing your sight.

“You might face losing your job or your car.

“There is a lot of emotional stuff going on.

“But they can come here and there is someone who can guide them through what we can offer here – all the visual aids, technology, the Talking Newspaper and groups.

“Our job is to aid that journey to a positive outcome.”
