Nursery gets tree-top score in inspection... again!

Treetops Nursery, in Carlin Gate, has been given a glowing report by education watchdog Ofsted following a visit.

Inspector Cath Palser said: “Staff have a superb understanding of how to identify accurate learning needs and plan superbly for the unique ways that children learn.”

Management and children at the nursery – whose behaviour was lauded as caring and ‘exemplary’ – were also praised in Ms Palser’s report.

Treetops owner Suzanne Baker said: “We are absolutely delighted. The dedication of the staff shone through.”

Suzanne said the nursery was given an afternoon’s notice of Ofsted’s inspection, just enough time to prepare paperwork and for anxiety to build.

She said: “We are always nervous because complacency is the biggest downfall, but we strive for the best at all times.

“It’s good to have nerves because it’s so important to us. We are so passionate.”

During her visit, Ms Palser watched how the staff play with the children, looked at records and paperwork, and spoke to staff and small selection of parents.

She said: “Children’s special contributions and achievements are celebrated at the nursery and at home.

“They are confident learners and explore the environment with high levels of energy and vigour.

“Children play with awe and wonder and have an eager disposition towards learning.

“They are supported superbly to acquire the skills they need for future learning.”

The nursery, which opened in 1986, cares for 124 children aged from birth to four years old.

It can improve by continuing to work on ways to further involve parents in their children’s learning, Ms Palser said. Treetops was last inspected in 2012, when it was also rated ‘outstanding’, the best possible score given by Ofsted.
