Iconic 5-storey Blackpool hotel which featured in legendary Coronation Street scene sold
An iconic Blackpool hotel which famously featured in a legendary Coronation Street scene has been sold.
Leisure property specialists Fleurets have announced the successful freehold sale of The Strand Hotel, a 33-bedroom seafront property in Blackpool, off a guide price of £695,000. The five-storey hotel, located on Blackpool’s North Shore promenade, holds a unique place in television history due to its links with the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.
The property famously featured in the 1989 episode in which villain Alan Bradley was killed by a tram after pursuing Rita Fairclough to Blackpool, where she had taken refuge at the hotel. A blue plaque commemorating the iconic scene, along with photographic memorabilia from filming, remains on display and continues to attract fans of the show.

The purchaser, Dip Bharatkumar Sukhadiya, said: “We’re delighted to acquire The Strand Hotel. Our aim is to build on the strong operation established by the previous owners and ensure the hotel remains a standout seafront destination.
“We look forward to welcoming guests for many years to come.”
The hotel occupies a prominent seafront position on North Shore, close to Wilton Parade tram stop and between the well-known The Imperial Hotel Blackpool and Hilton Blackpool.
Alistair Greenhalgh, Divisional Director at Fleurets, said: “We’re pleased to have facilitated the sale of this unique property, which benefits from a prominent seafront position and a well-known connection to one of Coronation Street’s most memorable scenes.
“We wish the new owner every success.”
