No arrests after Pool fans’ angry protest

Officers attended Mr Oyston’s home near Waddington, on Sunday where around 60 supporters voiced their anger at the running of the club.

The Tangerine Knights, who organised the protest, said the march was a “peaceful” demonstration of their opposition to the current owners of the team.

Police confirmed no arrests were made following the protest.

Pictures from Sunday’s protest emerged showing dozens of fans at the Parkers Arms pub, in Newton-in-Bowland, and on a lane close to the Oyston family home.

The demonstration, which saw two flares reportedly set off by protestors, was the latest in a long line of demonstrations.

A similar march was organised last month and various groups have arranged protests outside Bloomfield Road in response to poor performances and a lack of investment in the team.

Despite posting a profit of more than £9m last year, the club still has below-par training facilities and has just five players contracted to them for next season – although it has an option to extend the deals of at least six others.

And last week it was confirmed the Seasiders will play in League One next year after the club’s relegation – which had seemed inevitable for months – became official.

A Lancashire Police spokesman today said: “We were aware of the protest, which passed off without incident.”
