Twenty-three-year-old Nina said her part in the programme came about by chance, after reaching the semi-finals of a hairdressing competition as a model.

She added: “I’d been asked by my hairdresser, Eddie, from Truth in Lytham, to take part in a competition for L’Oreal.

“We ended up getting to the semi-final and it was that which gave me the confidence to apply for The Face.”

Nina was soon asked to join the show, but it left her with a big decision to make, as she had just been offered a managerial role at clothes store Abercrombie and Fitch.

She said: “I was on the graduate scheme there, but I went with my instinct and I haven’t regretted it since.

“The show has been a fantastic experience, while Naomi, Erin and Caroline have all been very helpful – they are three people I have looked up to for some time.”

Although Nina can’t reveal how far she progressed in the competition, she has since been signed up for Boss Model Management, a company recommended by Erin, and has taken part in catwalk shows for Harvey Nichols and Vogue in Manchester.

She added: “I had never done modelling full-time before and I must admit it is the hardest job I have ever had.

“It’s a lifestyle. You have to be careful what you eat and exercise regularly. It isn’t a case of just turning up and looking pretty, there is much more to it than that.”
