New Year's Eve drinker over limit in morning

A New Year's Eve reveller was over the alcohol limit when he was stopped by police the morning after.

allum McCombie, a 23-year old warehouse worker, of Loughrigg Terrace, Mereside, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Andrea Fawcett, prosecuting, said police pulled over McCrombie after seeing him driving a Renault Clio on George Street on January 1 at 7.15am.

A breath test showed 60 microgrammes of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client had been out celebrating New Year’s Eve. He believed the alcohol would have been out of his system.

McCombie was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £110 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
