New owners of Guys Thatched Hamlet restoration work breathes new life into iconic thatched roof
The restoration of one of Lancashire’s best-known hospitality landmarks is continuing apace with fresh progress revealed on the iconic thatched roof at The Thatched Hamlet in Bilsborrow.
The owners of The Thatched Hamlet have shared an update on the ongoing restoration of the venue’s famous thatched roof, as work continues to revive the much-loved canalside destination.
Posting on social media, the team said they were delighted with the progress being made, describing the project as bringing the “beautiful thatched roof back to life”.

The venue, on St Michael’s Road in Bilsborrow, has been undergoing a careful programme of refurbishment since reopening under new ownership earlier this year.
In the latest update, the team thanked followers for their support and interest in the restoration, saying many people had enjoyed watching the transformation unfold.
The post added: “We’ve loved sharing the progress with you, and we know many of you have enjoyed following the transformation along the way – it’s wonderful to see this special project coming together.”

While work remains ongoing, visitors are being encouraged to see the improvements for themselves over the summer months with further developments planned later in the year.
The Thatched Hamlet reopened in April under Bowland Inns & Hotels after its sudden closure in February.
Since then, efforts have focused on restoring and enhancing the historic site while retaining its distinctive character.
Bowland Inns & Hotels Limited, which operates under the James’ Places brand, entered into an exclusivity agreement with a view to purchasing the assets of Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, subject to contract earlier this year.
The venue is open daily for breakfast, food and drinks with accommodation also available to book.
